Finishing up on a 13 day charter. The weather, sans Beryl, has been perfect. The people of these islands are strong and determined to overcome their tragedy. They are also grateful to all who are coming ,not only to sail these pristene waters, but to support them. We cannot wait until our next trip. If you are on the fence about whether to come this year or not....JUST DO IT.

We have a couple of days left in our charter but I certainly agree with the OP. The attitude of the people considering all the damage done is just amazing. There are lots of options to visit even if some of the old favorites like Bitter End and Saba Rock are temporarily out of service. (edit: didn't mean to imply they were permanently gone.)

How long before Saba is open again? Is construction moving along?

I have no idea of the time lines. Construction equipment has been on site only a couple of months. So I suspect it will be a while yet.

Just had a great lobster dinner at Abe's in Little Harbour JVD. They lost pretty much everything but are fully functional in a temporary structure while they replace the former structure with a concrete building.
Their attitude is great and they appreciate the business so get yourself here.

We've been asking people about their Irma story - everyone has one, they are fascinating (and horrifying), and they've had enough time to process the experience that they're glad to have a chance to talk about it. Yesterday, a woman told us about seeing catamarans flying and spinning through the air at Paraquita Bay - "I never want to see that again!".

Agreed, there is ZERO reasons why you should not go. The four of us had one, if not the best trip ever down there. Remember the arrogant customs people? Gone. The attitudes towards tourists by some? Gone. If you have a favorite palm tree, that may be gone too. But the hills are still green, the water is still clear blue, the sand is a little less some-places, and a little more in others Got a little blowey with Beryl, and we almost lost a cushion. Otherwise the weather was perfect. all but three little sprinkles, 80-85 degrees, 12-20kts smooth consistent winds...not gusty at all.

Agreed! We are headed down on Friday for 12 glorious days on Jost. It is our 4th trip post Irma. It has been so amazing to see the resiliency of the people and the islands. Construction moves along with new things to see each trip. We will spend time on Tortola and Virgin Gorda this trip too as all work and no play makes Ski a very dull girl!
What are you waiting for?
