By this time tomorrow morning we should be in Miami awaiting our connecting flight to St Thomas. My goal is to blog while on island if power and connectivity will allow. As the first entry calls out in the title "It is time to return!" We have been crossing the ocean on our last few trips on new adventures, but now we are excited to come back to the VI. So please join us by following the links as we Return, Relax, and Recharge on St John.

Looking forward to it!
And, while most people don't even know it, the TTOL logo has our 'island in the sun' on the lower left hand corner. For us, it represents St. Maarten/St. Martin. For you, it's St. John. It's not the place, but the FEELING it gives us, that we are truly at peace.

The adventure begun with a 2:20 a.m. alarm. No DC traffic at that time of the morning. Boarding in 20 minutes

Sitting on Hawknest playing lifeguard for wife as she keeps swimming back and forth to Gibney. Great day - lots of turtles!
Cleobeach PM requested info.
About time to head back to the cottage. More blogging tonight.

I cannot believe Trunk Bay that desolate!! We would avoid it during afternoons because there was no where to place a towel. I have a hard time seeing all the photos of destruction that damn monster Irma did. The USVI, BVI, Barbuda and our St. Maarten,/ St. Martin. My heart is heavy for all the residents and pray for a fast recovery. Tourism is badly needed to help with that recovery but St. John seems to be very quiet. Are any hotels up and running? I don't think Caneel Bay will ever recover, the photos were too much to look at. That's where we stay when we visited St. John. Well Tom I AM thoroughly enjoying your photos. You do it so well!! Continue to have a great vacation and remember you are helping all just by being there, I know they appreciate it. Looking for more pics! Till then...........................

Nice photos, it's good to see someone who enjoys the nature of the islands and doesn't want to change it. Enjoy your vacation

I am enjoying the reports, keep them coming! Your dining descriptions were killing me as I was eating my sad stale bagel with bad coffee We stayed in Chocolate Hole in January and it was striking how some homes were reduced to rubble or just a wall or two standing (even the concrete construction) while others appeared to have little or no damage. We stayed at Time Out. The houses above, below and next to it were destroyed. All appeared to have been cleared of debris (or maybe it just all blew away?)

Thanks for bringing us along so far! I especially enjoyed the pictures of Sunday. I see you are a Grisham fan also. And a salad with candied walnuts, goat cheese and pear is one of my favorite combinations!! Along with a nice wine, can't be beat!

I had that same salad in February and loved it.
I miss the old Lime Inn menu. In talking to a long-time server, she said the menu change was necessary to adapt to changing times and that's understandable. The absence of seafood sausage and the whole grilled snapper was a big disappointment.

Truly understand a restaurant must evolve, and the food and service was very good! I, like you, miss the old menu at Lime Inn. Still an excellent choice downtown.

Wow, the whole grilled snapper is gone? That was a killer meal. Still, the food there has always been solid.
Cheers, RickG
