Greetings: While this may have been covered by other poster AA has added non-stop service from CLT and PHL for December. I have not researched if they are weekend only. The cost of the fare to purchase seemed relatively high. However, they were available for December weekend travel for 15K. Advantage Miles. Your experience may differ.

No, as of now, the schedule is showing nonstops from Charlotte and Philly in December. That could change, but they are there now.

Right. I didn't realize poster was looking at next December. My oversight.

Hoping they keep it!! Our June flights changed to Miami, but I just booked our annual Xmas and New Years trip direct out of PHL. My fingers are crossed. Unfortunately, I need to travel at school break times, so I don't have any luck with miles tickets and pay a premium for my dates. This was the first year since 1990 that we did not spend New Years in St. Maarten .

Wouldn't be much point in looking at last December. We found great fares through CLT for our usual Nov/Dec dates for 2018. We've decided to wait until our visit in May to decide how long we'll stay.

As of now, nonstops from PHL begin on August 25, Saturday and Sunday only. As of now, nonstops from CLT begin on August 23, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only.

I didn't pay attention to "December" for any year in the post which was a mistake on my part. Our original flights for this May?June both went through CLT from SXM but now are through MIA with an overnight in MIA. We originally had a one day return leaving SXM at 8am and arriving SEA at 8pm same day.

Our original flights through CLT for May were changed to a MIA connection, which was completely unworkable from our home airport; so we were able to cancel and rebook through ATL on Delta. I'm seeing great flight through CLT for our usual Nov/Dec dates for 2018

Yes I believe as more interest in returning to SXM and more room inventory opening up we will see more flights in and out of SXM from our usual cities. Right now I'll take what I can get to return to SXM. Who knows as I get closer to our flights it will change again. And maybe for the better.

Our Apr - May CLT directs were there when we booked in Oct and from time to time afterwards BUT when I checked on Friday 2/3 they had changed to go from CLT to MIA and then to SXM. Of course, the MIA to SXM leg departed 1 hour before the CLT to MIA leg arrived. Agent said that AA was only allowed one arrival a day which I found hard to believe. Cancelled and now chasing refunds. We did have insurance.

It could be that the agent was correct, as they are limiting the number of large planes that are coming in now. You shouldn't have to be 'chasing' refunds as far as AA is concerned, as you are absolutely entitled to your money back.

For what it is worth, Delta has gone back to a 737 from ATL versus the 757 they had been using. Still a large plane but somewhat less capacity.

When our flights changed leaving SXM they could not assign seats in Business because of them consolidating two flights into one. Supervisor informed me they are looking into a larger plane so there are 16 instead of 8 Business/First seats.

Bob, we had a similar situation with our May flights. Getting the refund was easy, using their online system. I don't know if Delta is an option for you, but we were able to book them through ATL and save a substantial amount of money as well.

They say that they have refunded the ticket costs and we see the miles refund but there are some major seat change charges that are at issue. I am waiting until their ticket refund hit our credit card and then filing with the insurance company.
Meanwhile, we are fortunate that our son lives in Newtown, Ct, and we can stay there an limo to JFK for a direct Jet Blue flight. Have done this before and easily handled it.
The shame is that we live 15 minutes from PVD and have family and friends glad to drop us off and pick us up.

Thanks for the heads up! I just got great December flights thru CLT from DTW for 15k AA miles each way. On the island by 2:15p. Snagged the 9am flight out thru MIA, which gets us back to DTW at 4:40p rather than the usual midnight. Thanks again!

You can count on many changes between now and then.
