Looking for current info on status of Mont Vernon Resort ... last info seems to be the drone footage in October. Thanks in advance!

Thought someone posted some units are habitable and some were not. I think they were in contact with an owner via vbro. Thibault and Amaury had about a dozen units for rent, guess you could contact them though their restaurants website. http://www.bistrot-caraibes.com/contact-us/

Thanks Sea Star .... Thib & Amaury told friends of ours that their unit would be ready in November, yes last Nov. (there was no roof on their building in October) ... I don't think that that news was reliable!
We have rented at Mount Vernon for a whack load of times ...but our landlord lives in France .... so I'm looking for someone who has DIRECT, and UNBIASED info ... (not yelling there ..just stressing my points).
Our landlord told us in the fall not to come this year ... to wait until 2019 .... so we followed his directions.
Hoping that progress is being made ... we will miss our two months in SXM.

Again, if you've stayed there, you know that Mt. Vernon is NOT a resort. All units there are individually owned. So some units may be totally habitable and others not. My understanding, however, is that if the pool is important to you, that the pool might not be operational for some time. I don't have any direct knowledge of Thibault and Amaury's units, but I suggest if you really want to go, you should contact them and they will tell you the truth about their particular units.

We really wanted to dump a booked cruise for an available unit in Mt Vernon. Crazy right. We were told our unit would be available but there would be noise during daylight hours. Ultimately, due to slight lowball offers on the cruise, we stayed with the cruise as we worried about lack of roofs, railings, bridges.
Maybe we’ll go in June/July when we see the roofs and railings at least installed.
Really want to see a natural orient shoreline in more ways than one!

Thanks Carol, We're totally aware that Mont Vernon is not a resort any more ..but locals on the French side often use the term to distinguish the Condominium building from the area and the actual mountain ...all referred to locally as Mont Vernon .... we've been staying there for more than 25 years. ... call a taxi to come there and they will ask if you mean MV "resort". My implied point in the inquiry was that many owners at Mont Vernon are not being upfront in their replies ...just check the pictures and offers on VRBO .... I'm looking for an unbiased report, not the brothers'. We are concerned about many of residents we have met there over the 25 vears ...from Joseph (who in the October video certainly had no roof over his unit),Michel, the pool man, & the "cat lady" to name a few; we have no way to contact these lovely people. As I said before, we are not planning SXM in 2108, but hope to return in 2019 for our two months. This is simply a request for information to alleviate concern.

Amery told us that the green roofs were more decorative than functional. The flat roof below is mainly concrete. I sure hope so because we will be there in two weeks.

If that’s the case that was a great design decision that should be copied island wide with hopefully stronger decorative roofing. Again brilliant if the concrete keeps out most of the water.

Amaury said that their units survived and are ready. The pool is going to be a long while. We rarely used it anyway. Also, there are a handful of owners on vrbo that have updated their info to include post Irma information. I am leery about any offers that make no mention of repairs or that the unit survived with little or no damage.

If we had gotten a better offer within our self imposed deadline, we would have dumped a cruise and went to StudioSXM full knowing there would be sig issues. That said, well be afloat in less than two weeks.
Big worry for me everyone needs to be careful island wide for roofing and other construction nails. I had a nail in a flip flop last year.
Wish the boat was pulling into Orient bay. Id snorkel ashore to a yellow umbrella and a few Carib’s
