Been to the island several times on a cruise and will be staying for a week for the first time next month. Could someone explain the customs/immigration processes both coming and going. Should I get forms on line? Do you get them at SXM? Does the airline provide? We will be connecting in Miami on our return. Thanks in advance.

As far as CUSTOMS coming into SXM, there basically is none. Occasionally they have customs officers look at a flight coming in from Columbia, Jamaica, etc., but not for flights coming from the US. With regard to immigration, for the most part, there are NO forms arriving in SXM. For years there were forms that you got from the airline, but our past couple of trips, there were none. If you do need a form arriving in SXM, they will be available on the plane.

As far as coming back into Miami, there will be NO forms. Miami has kiosks where you go in and answer the questions on the kiosk, and then it prints out your immigration and customs form.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Enjoy your trip!
