Had a wonderful meal at Skipjacks Thursday night. We haven't been there in years, as we always heard sketchy reviews about it. We did hear today that new management took it over a few years ago, however. We had seven people and everyone gave thumbs up to their dinners. Steaks, seafood, oysters, crab and clam chowda, calamari, were a few of the items circulating at the table. Oh, and lots of wine! Will go back in a heart beat! The place was packed and we had called for reservations ahead of time. Two thumbs up!

Skipjacks has really upped their game in the past few years. Really good stuff coming out of there recently!

I agree, we make Skipjacks one of our regular stops. They have a very nice fresh fish market as well. We brought crabcakes back to the boat and they were delicious.

Here's our routine for the last several years. We land, go through customs and get our rental car. We go to our unit, change our clothes and then head to Skipjacks and we both order the Asian Plate. We always go there again for a dinner sometime during our stay. My wife always orders the Asian plate again while I have seafood of some type. They know how to run a restaurant.

The owner/manager was also at one point working with Topper at both Toppers and the recently ownership changed Toppers by the Sea. He has a great back round and knows how to run Skipjacks. Love their Ahi. Two of the best on island as the other outstanding Ahi is at Fig.

We stopped there two years ago to buy fresh fish to cook at home after we picked up our daughter and boyfriend at the airport. I was disappointed that the fish selection was so small, however, when we cooked that fish it was wonderful!

Just an FYI Jim is not the owner but he is a good manager. He did work for Topper but he started out in SXM as the head of the sales department for Sunterra now Diamond. To the best of my knowledge he did not have a restaurant background but obviously he is a fast learner....
Almost forgot to mention we love the food there......

Thanks for the clarification Sharon. I thought he was the owner too. Good to know. He does a very good job at managing and the food there is great.
