Looing for feedback please.....
group of 8 of us will be Day-Trip visiting Tortola in May (on Cruise ship) -
Hubby and I have done several land based vacations on Tortola but been quite a few years ago - not sure how much has changed....no-one else has been on tortola before
Hubby and I are trying to decide where we should take the gang to hang on the beach and do some snorkeling, drinking and eating for the day - he says Brewer's Bay - I say Smugglers Cove - not sure if Nicole's is still operating at Brewers (we'll have a soft sided cooler w/us and stock up before heading to beach - lunch not sure?
anyone know of driver that can accommodate 8 people for transportation that we can setup before hand
any suggestions on day trip itinerary would be most appreciated (1 person has bad knees otherwise we'd be boating it to jost for the day)

As far as the taxi, please consider AC's Taxi Service, a TTOL sponsor.

Arnold of AC Taxi is wonderful! Big, clean, newer, air conditioned van. Perfect for a group of 8 - and he's nice as can be!

Go with AC..not the cruise ship organized buses..he can take you to Brewer's and cruise the north shore to Smugglers..avoid CGB as it will be a zooship day ...

Find a water taxi an head to White Beach on Jost Van Dyke. Wear a bathing suit because you'll swim to shore. Best Pain Killers in the BVI at Soggy Dollar. You're welcome.

Go to the Brandywine Bay beach. You'll have it all to yourself.

Well, maybe not EVERYONE, but we have a mini cooler that we used to always take on cruises--big enough for a bottle of wine, some cheese, etc..

We have been on many cruises, it would not even cross our mind to bring a cooler.

A water taxi to White BAY would be very pricey - they would need to charter it for the day unless they join a day trip there....and if they are bringing coolers they can stock a few beers in, the taxi via AC is a much better idea - Smugglers is amazing. The PKs at Soggy are not what they used to be before White Bay turned into another frat party. Overpriced and overcrowded. For a much more unique experience, go the taxi route.

I'm totally with Bridget on this..AC is your man to show you a great time. By the time you've got to JVD and back and spent $$$$ you'd be worn out. We go to JVD mid week when the USVI crowds are less and now go down to Ivan's and eat at Hendo's Hideout..but I would not spend my time doing that if I was on a cruise ship and clock watching..

It has come in handy MANY of times esp. when we run into friends with fresh fish from the boat.... to grabbing a few bev's & stop on the side of the road to watch the sunrise or sunset or even the shuttle launch <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> Gotta love life and be ready at any time for those "special moments" <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> thanks for all the replies - how is Josiah's Bay beach----any better than smugglers ???

IMO Smugglers is better unless you want to surf.

How about a day on Virgin Gorda? You could get off the boat, walk over to the ferry docks and grab the next boat to VG. Once there, catch a cab and and take your friends and your cooler over to Savanna Bay. There's no facilities other than a trash can which leads to a very secluded beach. Except on Sunday (all bets are off if you're going to be there Sunday) you should have the beach to yourselves. Have fun
