Staying at BEYC for a couple of days > want to rent a car at Leverick (Staying in a slip at Marina - too lazy to motor via sloop to leverick bay). We have 8 players > (not good dinghy option). Thinking about taking the free ferry from BEYC to Gun Creek (still operating?/ still free?). Other options: will Saba rock take me over there if I tip them? thx, rrs

We're at BEYC tonight and headed over to Leverick tomorrow morning. Just hung up the phone with Nick at Leverick (thanks Captain Jay at CYOA for the excellent tip!). Can't wait to meet these folks and enjoy a day or two over there. We too are renting a safari truck. Nick was very willing to not only get that arranged for us, but to get us reservations at Jumbies and have a crew ready to help us get a slip. My advise: if you're headed to Leverick, call Nick. 284-495-7421. Finally, thanks to all you TTOL members for all your great reports and recommendations (especially when we're not arguing about dinghy lights at night). It's because of you guys that I'll be visiting Leverick for the first time in 30 years of chartering down here. And I already know we won't be disappointed.

Met Nick today. And was reintroduced to Leverick for the first time in 25 years. Incredible on every front! We knew things were off to a good start when a somewhat reluctant Bounce let us pet him...drawing a beautiful British "Bloody Hell!" From Nick. I've chartered the BVI around 20 times since 1986 and we have ALWAYS spent at least one night at Bitter End...as was the case on this trip. After making a connection with Nick yesterday to set things up, then motoring over first thing this morning, we are total converts. On reflection, Bitter End has always held a certain allure of being a place that looks like a lot of fun. But after today's foray to the other end, we realize that Leverick is ACTUALLY a really fun place to be. Started the day with Tito and company for a super easy slip landing, a gracious reception by Nick, a terrific safari truck rental, a dip in the pool, showers, shopping and an unforgettable night of food and dancing at Jumbies. Back to the Beneteau 45 now for a gentle roll on the dock and a great night's sleep. Nick, Tito and Leverick, can't wait to see you next year and every trip after! Thanks.

[color:"black"][/color] Well, I am not an expert on BEYC (I have only dinghied over and walked the beach and docks) but here is My 2 cents: - Friday BBQ at Jumbies is not to be missed (best ribs, smoked pig, chicken, slaw, rice everything was awesome!) - Access to roads and a vehicle if you want to explore the rest of the island and go to the baths at your leisure - if you are on a boat and on a slip you get free water and ice and can apply the TTOL discount!

Mooring balls at BEYC are more (even without TTOL discount at Leverick), then free water and bag of ice (Likely $20 at BEYC). Different resort.... both nice. BEYC will cost you more.

Nick, Tito and Leroy and the new crew members, and Monica, and the great bar tender at the great restaurant upstairs. The guys at blue rush are decent.

There is no comparison. Once you land or moor at Leverick you will be hard pressed to return to where they don't know your name and don't care to. The staff and services at Leverick are amazing. The food upstairs has always been the best on the islands and we have some of our most fun nights in the BVI hanging with the Jumbies or Michael Beans. Then add that the rest of Virgin Gorda is open to you and the rental vehicle that Nick has organized. Well, you cannot go wrong. We still haven't been to Hog Heaven, but there is always next time. I have no reservations recommending Leverick over all of the other North Sound offerings. Heck you can even get to the other places via ferry or dinghy for the most part, but once you try Leverick, the other places will be distant memories I fear. That is what happened to us anyhow. Oh how I wish we were headed there this year.

We just got back last night and everyone LOVED Leverick. We got a slip and Leroy was very helpful. I emailed Nick ahead of time and the rental was there waiting for us. My only small complaint is Leroy told us they would be open till 7:00pm so we got back at 6:40pm to stock up on ice (and get our free bag) as we were leaving early to Anegada the next morning before they re-opened. When we got there they had already closed and no one to be found. Not really a big deal at all, if we had known we would have stayed for another round at Hog Heaven. We will definitely be back to Leverick!

Someone tell me about the "upstairs" at Leverick for dining? We're thinking of taxi to and from Coco Maya while we're at Leverick for the night, but my husband isn't crazy about sitting in a taxi for 30 mins each way

We were just there last month, 2 nights in a slip at Leverick. New Year's Eve actually, with dinner upstairs and the NYE party etc... Then had dinner at coco maya next night. If I had to pick, I would take dinner upstairs at Leverick, but both are certainly very nice! Nick and his crew are fantastic hosts. We can't wait to get back down to BVI for another charter!

Nick just set us up for two nights in 3 weeks! After reading all the comments it seems like the way to go. He also helped us get a table at Jumbie's and a rental car for the baths. Looking forward to it.

George Sears really kicked up the Upstairs Restaurant. When he left over a year ago I thought that a bad sign but the new local chef is every bit as good. Try it..
