A friend just booked Divi for a week starting April 1.
They advised he has to pay $25/night for electricity directly to the resort. Seems outrageous!
Anyone else heard of this practice?

Unless something has changed recently, I understand that Divi now has a 'resort fee' of $25 per day. This 'resort fee' supposedly includes wifi and electric charges. Previously there was a charge for electric and a separate charge if you wanted wifi.

There is a discussion here, talking about it as of the end of last year. I assume the situation is the same now as then.

I know in a round-a-about way all renters and/or timeshare owners pay for electricity. With what GEBE has been doing, it would really irritate me to have to pay a separate charge, especially in addition to maintenance fees if I were an owner.

I guess it pays for generator and fuel to run it at Divi.

25 a day is crazy. I know our MF at flamingo is higher than most but at least they do not charge the owners the 10.00 per day resort fee. They only charge renters and trade in guests. The fee covers WiFi and pool towels.

Not that is really relevant to SXM BUT we spent a week at the Wyndham in Grand Cayman on a II exchange. They charge $30/day for electric and $30/week for the wifi BUT only to exchange stays and renters

def due to the gene and fuel. Seems a bit high but at least you dont have the place going dark randomly. How would they run the blender!
