We are not leaving until Tuesday, but I wanted to figure out how to post beforehand.
We are in another Villa, but close and will let you know.

It may not matter to some but I think I remember Carol saying only a/c in the bedrooms there?

Yes, that is true. There is generally a nice breeze through the main area, and we live in Florida, so can stand more heat than some. It depends on when you go also, and whether you're inside during the day. We were there in December two years ago, and there was no need for a/c in the main room. For the most part, we are on the deck, in the water, by the pool, etc., during the day in the summer. But if you're there in August/September and want to be in the a/c during the day, you have to go in the bedroom.

As Carol said, it's Beachside Villas.
It's a great place to stay.
The AC might be a problem to some, but we are usually on the beach during the day.
We don't like being shut up with the AC on, when possible, so it's not a big problem for us.

We only stayed at BSV once and that was at the very end of April into May but we had no problems at all with not having airco in the main living area of the unit. The constant breezes through the unit during the daytime hours were delightful and at night we could still hear the waves crashing the beach over the ac when we went to bed. It's a place I would thoroughly enjoy staying again without hesitation.

The map on the website says 5 minutes to restaurants and casinos. Is there anything within walking distance at night, both doable and safe?

Regarding walking distance at night, I am going to say no. Not that you could not walk to Maho -- because the streets there are narrow and no sidewalks or street lights. When we are there we are always careful about driving at night because it is tight and no lights so if you are walking it would be hard for somebody in the car to see you much before they were on top of you.
