OK I love getting really thick high quality T-Shirts when we travel to different Caribbean destinations. I don't mind paying for them as they last FOR-EV-ER. What are some good ones or places to get one on St Martin? Absolutely not looking for the 5 for $25 spots. I say that as I am wearing one from Le Select on St Barths from 2008.
Thanks!

Secret Spot. At the French Market in Marigot. The lovely French lady designs the art work, several new designs each year.

Another vote for "Secret Spot" at the French open market on Marigot. Believe the market is every Wed and Sat morning. The nice French lady sets up her T-shirt display in a tented booth around the main circular area among all the other vendors.

I find most places have good tee shirts as well as the poor quality wash once and throw it away.
In my mind (Comfort Colors) is the best tee shirt on the market I have some bought in 2004 still going strong.
Most stores have them but they run 15 to 20 dollars, to me they are well worth the price just wish I could find some with pockets.

The only place I would buy tee shirts is Secret Spot (Marigot Market near the small restaurants in the Market area on the Mall side), Shipwreck shops in Philipsburg. I have tees from both places that have been handed down through 12 Grandchildren over 25 yrs. I still wear one from 1991. No shrinking, no fading...$25-50. Nice shirts in the shop in Orient Village, but she has only been in business a short time, so can't attest to durability. They are nice though.

I love my Secret Spot T-Shirts and have about ten of them. They are high quality, but they are not super thick shirts.

I'll respond with an "opposite" post just for fun.
We have a tee shirt tradition. I buy cheapest tee shirts in Philipsburg market a day or 2 after we arrive, usually 8 to 10 for our SXM vacation.
They have to be flimsy (so they dry quickly when they get wet) and XL or XXL since we know they will shrink. They are our uniform for our 2 or 3 week stay in Dec/Jan.
They will survive 1 or 2 trips to the laundry and when we depart, they stay. Great for beachwear, sleepwear, daywear.

Great idea Tom. I buy one or two of the $5 hats at the Marigot Market when we arrive and wear then on the beach and in the water. If they happen to get wet or I lose one, no big deal.

Beachkitten,
Have only seen her at the Marigot Mkt on Wed or Sat...usually by late morning. She sets up her portable canopy like many of the other market vendors. Not aware if she has a permanent shop somewhere.

I want to go to the marigot market this January when we visit. I have not been yet, as everytime I get to marigot,,the traffic is kinda confusing. Where does one park when wanting to visit market? I will be coming from cupecoy area and travelling into marigot. I just need a few pointers to make our visit to market a bit easier. lol

As you enter Marigot, turn left at round about. As you turn, the cemetery will be on your right and water in front of you. Turn right and keep cemetery on your right. There may be a few parking spots on this road, but no parking in the blue zone (any parking spot that is outlined in blue) unless you have the permit from the rental car company. If there are no spots there, continue straight through until the Market is on your left. Go past the Market and the taxi / bus parking lot and turn left at the corner. As you turn, the West Indies Mall will be on your right. Continue and you will see public parking lot on your left. If that's full, continue straight and there will be another public lot with a shuttle bus to take you to and from the Market. Hope this helps.

OK So we land late on Saturday and I think we are headed to St Barth's on Wednesday. Is the Secret Spot open other days other than Sat and Wed? Also, we are staying at OBBR and they have a Shipwrecks I believe so may be able to get something there and will be going to Orient one day. Thanks for all your help and all the great suggestions!

I'm not sure if Secret Spot is open on other days during low season.
