Good morning everyone, my wife and I have been on the island for a few days and we're both feeling like a really really good New York style pizza. We have cars and usually travel all over Island so all answers are well thank you very much

Can't help you there as we prefer a really good French style pizza, which you can get in multiple places on the island.

Don't know if it's what you had in mind, but we really enjoyed the four cheese pizza at Dreams Beach. It was very yummy..........

What is French style pizza?? Thin? I prefer thin over doughy.

French style is thin, relatively crispy crust, but it actually has some flavor to it, unlike the cardboard crust at Pizza Galley!

Have they gone back to the hand thrown dough or are they still using the premade cardboard type?

We finally got around to trying the pizza at the Driftwood Boat Bar for lunch one day last month. It was so good that we made a special trip over another day from Grand Case to have it again!

Our favorite place for pizza is Villa Pizza, in the Cul de Sac. They have great food and a place where we meet many locals.

Bucaneer is off our list after we ordered 2 beers, wings , Mahi Sandwich and 2 glasses of water. They flat out refused to give us water. The bartender said the owner only sells water, no free water. We cancelled the order and ate next door at Greenhouse, where they were happy to serve us water. Bucaneer was dead and they lost a $50 lunch, very poor business deision

Yes, French style pizza is a thin crust, and very flavorful as Carol said. They also have fewer toppings than most American style pizzas have.

Sail2Wind,
Did you mean to respond to me specifically? I was talking about Driftwood Boat Bar, but your response was about Buccaneer Beach Bar???

Same thing with Toppers with the water. It's a money maker.

Yes, usually less meat, etc., which is OK except for that crazy EGG deal!! The concept of an egg on a pizza I just find gross!!!

Could it be that they don't trust their drinking water, not that I have ever had an issue of water on the island or is it just a money maker to charge for bottled?

I believe some restaurant owners claim they don't trust the water. I don't believe they are being truthful, but I am not a very trusting person.

On the Dutch-side I would guess it is the same water in the resorts and we have never had a problem. Unless a place is buying bagged ice, the ice is made with the same water and any vegetables, salad (if not out of a bag) and dishes are washed with the same water. Not serving tap water would not stop me from going to a certain place but it is nothing but a money-maker.

Regarding pizza, I will take Orange Fever, Pizza Galley, Busby's was good the one time I had it and Driftwood. I will avoid BBB and Pizza Pasta.

How much were they going to charge you for the tap water?

They only serve bottled water, not tap.

If you have never tried it you should. Nothing better than leftover warmed up pizza with a nice fried egg with a runny yoke on top. YUM

I don't think anyone is implying bottled water should be free but the OPTION to be served tap water should be offered.

Sorry, no, it doesn't appeal, not at all! On the French side, you will often see that option of an egg on top, not on left over pizza, but from the start.. Not for me, thank you..

I've had it served from the start too. As long as the yoke is runny it's great. But then that's why there are 31 flavors at baskin and Robbins.

I don't think the argument for Buccaneer not serving water is believable as Greenhouse has the exact same water. The bartender told us straight up, the owner is too cheap to give away water. So, if you want a scotch with a water back, it's $3 more? Yes, he would and has lost my business.

I wonder if you can order a scotch and water, and ask for the water on the side, lol.

This whole "water" thing is crazy in my mind. I have been here, okay close to two decades, and the tap water is fine in my book! Used to own a water utility in the US and, just like there and here, if they work on the line and the water looks murky I avoid it until the line gets flushed out.

That said, any restaurateur that refuses to give you a glass of tap water if requested is just too darned greedy!

You want New York pizza, come to New York. They will also give you a free glass of New York water. It's the best!

As you can see Pizza taste is very subjective as per the suggestions here. I also love NY style pizza and consider myself a pizza snob. It's why I hardly ever eat it on SXM as there is no comparison for the real thing. I did enjoy eating pizza on Cupecoy one late afternoon as a friend brought take out from Driftwood. I still don't know if it was the pizza or the fact I was also enjoying a beautiful sunset
