Thinking about booking a water taxi for the trip from Nanny Cay to St. Thomas for a 3:20 flight out of St. Thomas. We are trying to avoid any ferry drama. We are at least 5 adults, but may be as many as 11. Any suggestions for which water taxi company to go with? And how early would we need to schedule for? We have Global Entry and Premier Access, but not sure I remember STT have a dedicated security lane for either

We used Oceandreams Water Taxi last summer. Very good experience. They responded promptly, arrived on time, etc. They can pick you up from Nanny Cay docks. They also have different sized boats. Oceandreamswatertaxi.com is their website. Good luck!

For at least 1 year Ocean Dreams is the only water taxi that can work inside the BVI and both dropoff and pickup at any spot within BVI, not just West End/Soper's. Christopher and family are great people to deal with. A five star recommendation!

Thanks everyone! Do you mind asking about how much this costs? We are 5 adults currently might add a few more. Thanks!

Hey no need to be snippy - I tried that and most of the companies either have unclear pricing or they ask that you contact them for a quote. I'm not really ready yet since we don't know exactly how many people are coming. I was hoping someone could say "hey, last time I paid X for Y people" but if they can't, that's totally okay too.

Well sure don't want to change your mind if set on a water taxi..but I haven't heard of any ferry problems lately and would wager 100-1 odds that if you are at the Roadtown ferry dock at 930... You will get to STT before noon..check luggage at Taxi stand outside customs .. Walk a couple blocks over to Hook Line and sinker Have a nice lunch..back to taxi stand ..to airport. If leaving on Saturday and want to do the 3 hrs before flight thing..skip lunch. It's 35 bucks each .. Can eat and party on the difference.

Knowing what time/date/month would help. When ProvenceTown II is down it is a game changer. for both good...and bad depending.
The loading/disembarking times can be STUPID long. but they get you there.

It's the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We were planning to leave Nanny Cay around 10 am if we took the water taxi. If we took the ferry, we'd have to spend our last night on the dock and take the 9 am ferry. Not ideal, but the rest of the group wanted to work on Monday >.<

On Foxy's Water Taxi we paid $130 per person, each way. There were 8 of us. It was $90 per person for the water taxi and $40 per person for them to clear you through customs.

I don't think that is a bad price at all..be better if was not so deceptive. There is nothing that foxy or Dohms or anyone else does for you clearing customs in the USVI... There is no fee charged by US customs..each individual needs to stand before the Immigration and customs officer with their bags passport and form filled out. Pretty much the same going to the BVI unless you consider the captain carrying passports and document to C&I is worth 40$ a head.

We used Dolphin in April for pick-up and drop-off when we were switching guests mid-Charter. Dolphin and Oceandreams were the only two we found that were licensed to take you anywhere in the BVIs from a US company. We had guests picked up from Peter Island and another group dropped off at Scrub. Dolphin was excellent to work with and used a 50 person ferry for our 6 guests since one of their other boats had problems. Oceandreams was also good to work with over the phone but we went with Dolphin.

It did cover the BVI departure fee for us and the captain. He picked us up in the East End and took us to customs in Soper's Hole, he took in all the paperwork, we sat on the boat. We never had to go into customs.

Thanks! 10 of us took Dohm's from STT (Red Hook) to West End and then taxied to Road Town. The costs pp: 72.50 + 25 customs + tip + 2 land taxies = $135 pp. It was an enjoyable experience considering we traveled with 5 coolers + all our stuff. They took good care of us, but I was surprised that we did have to get in line and personally clear customs after reading other posts that only the captain did that. We then took the ferry on our return - on a Monday it wasn't nearly as awful as it was last year on a Sunday. However, even though it was a small ferry and few people, we had to wait an hour amongst the fumes at Customs in STT because their computer system went down.

Used to be that water taxi captain cleared you in without the need to get off the boat. Now the ongoing politic BS have killed that.
