You're right to remind everyone to keep checking their flights. Last year AA changed our JKF non stop to a connection in Miami. When I called AA blamed it on the US Air merger but we all know everyone flying out of JFK loves the non stop flight. Time to check my April flights again!

Same here. Did you notice that they then re-added the JFK direct flight later? Is that responding to demand, or cleaning out the original JFK flight so that it can be re-sold? <tin foil hat on>

The cynic in me can't help but wonder if this is deliberate a bait and switch.

Okay, so perhaps I'm very naive, but I really don't think that's the case at all.

A few years ago we were booked as soon as the flight was in their schedule on the April nonstop to St. Maarten from JFK for Easter week, traveling on Saturday. We had booked very early but by December the flight was almost sold out and they cancelled it anyway and never did reinstate it for that time period.

I guess they find it more practical to use their Miami hub these days for all but the highest part of the high season.

Our November/December trip this year was originally booked on AA, again booked very early, but I was feeling pretty confident in the flights being good since in the past its routinely been a n/s flight for the Thanksgiving time slot. Our flight was well booked early for the Saturday after and yup, they cancelled it and to date it hasn't been reinstated. We chose not to connect in Miami and rebooked on JB. Purely conjecture on my part but I guess the competition from Delta and JB has cut into their profit margins and they feel the hub arrangement works better for them now. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />
