With a big, grateful nod to Julian Putley, Monique, Captain Amanda and Jason, I'm curious as to the TTOL'ers input on items that would comprise "The Eating Man's Guide to the British Virgin Islands?"

This would just be a list of food (and drink) finds posted by TTOL'ers here... your input and replies on this post are it! No stamps in the back of a printed book (too bad, as Julian's arranged discounts are great!). And, unlike some secret hidden hideaways or great little places to stay that might not get shared for fear of them not being available next time YOU go, "BVI Food Finds" should, by their nature, be more share-able with the public and TTOLers here. Not everybody will agree that other people food finds are, in fact, any good - but that's OK since people have different experiences.

Many things can combine to make a great meal - more often than not, it's the right company at the right time in the right place. However, there are also some perennial favorites - food items that go above and beyond because they exceed expectations. 3-Michelin-starred restaurants don't have it, not do places where "everything is good - doesn't matter what you order," or "A Red Stripe/Dark and Stormy/Carib anywhere on CGB" as what I'm looking for are those specific things that you might not know about or expect to be wonderful - [color:"red"]but are... and especially if they are on a reliable, consistent, repeat basis. There are a lot of overpriced, mediocre (or worse) menus in most eateries the world over - not just the BVI - but those little gems can be the ones that make a trip - [color:"blue"]like the conch fritters at De Loose Mongoose or Cow Wreck.

So... [color:"purple"]What have YOU found in the BVI that is "something more"? Also, where did you have it and approx when?

I'll kick this concept off with a few things that we found on our most recent BVI trip 3/15-3/28/06:

- Mahi-Mahi (freshly caught!) sandwich at Da Wedding in CGB ($8!)

- Steak (filet mignon!) and Eggs on the brunch menu at Banakeet on Sunday Morning (while the kids swam in the pool and we drank in the view and a few Blended Bananakeets)

- Pina Coladas with fresh nutmeg at Brewer's Bay

- Lime Daquiris at Quito's Gazebo (this is a tough call to include, I realize frown )

- Hamburger at the bar at Lambert Beach

- BBQ ribs at Elm Beach Bar on BBQ nights (2 nights/wk)

- Friggin' In De Riggin' at Foxy's

- Conch Fritters at De Loose Mongoose

- Fish and Chips (panko!) at Harbourview Restaurant, East End/Fat Hogs Bay
