Calling a day or 2 ahead does nothing because they'll simply lie to you. You didn't say when you were going, but the Road Town Fast Ferry has been decently consistent with the additional ferry for the season. The Customs line at the airport will be your biggest problem. I'd get a porter to take you through if it's a zoo.
