We had a great Sunday, as I get older I realize I have absolutely no FOMO and I’m ok with repeating things. We intended to go to D’s but stayed in Orient instead. We found a new favorite thing. There’s a guy named Jose who operates exactly one row of ten beach chairs, right between Goodtime Charley’s and Pirate Hideout (just before you get to the nude section). For ten dollars a chair he will basically be your personal concierge for the day. He has some kind of deal with Pirate’s where he will open a tab for you and bring you food and drinks. You may ask “why not just get chairs with Pirate’s ?” to which I will respond “I have no good answer for that”. But with Jose, there’s only one row of chairs - no one behind or in front of you, and no competing for service with other guests. Literally just pop up and say “Jose, can I get another one?” When we were done we tipped him in cash and asked him to save us the same seats for Tuesday.
We went up to Pirate’s for lunch and it was delicious. Jerk chicken wings, truffle fries, salad, plantains, and creole rice. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. There were both locals and repeat tourist guests here which I think is a good sign. The frozen margaritas were delicious.
The afternoon was spent in the pool at our villa, listening to the yacht rock station on Amazon Music (we always bring a JBL so we can have pool music) and sipping beverages. Happy hour with GP at La Playa and then on to our reservations at Sao. This was our first time at Sao and the ambience and food were spectacular. We had gyoza, satay, sushi, nigiri, and Tiger Cry ribeye. No one item was the star - all were exceptional. Jazz Gal and Scuba - they have several duck dishes here that sound phenomenal.
Taking a beach break today to get and out and do some stuff. Skies are clear and breeze is just right. Should be a great day. Thanks for following along.
