Leaving Great Harbor Peter Island this morning heading over to Roadtown. Sad to see a Moorings monohull on the rocks on the leeward/western side of the anchorage entrance. Partly sunk by the bows but mostly on the rocks. No one onboard as we passed.
Later learned that it happened overnight - some failure of the mooring ball itself or the way the vessel was tied to the ball. Crew was rescued overnight and were seen later in the morning at the Moorings base apparently shaken up by the incident (not surprising) and working the order to get back home.
Very windy week. Lots of pressure on moorings of all types… buoys, anchors, and surging on docks. Be safe out there.
