Hi All, I searched this topic and nothing came up.
We prefer to bring our own wine for our bareboat charter and have done in the past with no detection or issues (or duty).
Recently when speaking with a friend who lives in the Bahamas, he was shocked that we've gotten away with it.
Seems like the Bahamas charges 100% duty on wine brought in.
I looked up the rules and it seems that each person is allowed to enter with 2 liters of wine.
So two bottles is 1.5 liters. So my calculations say were good for at least 8-10 bottles for 4 people.
I've also read that a traveler with a box of 12 bottles was charged only $25 total for the box.
I don't see anything listed on how they tax for liters beyond the allowance.
Has anyone experienced bringing in a box of 12 bottles or more?
Regards,
