Hi don!
How exciting that you're planning a trip to Africa in 2012! It sounds like you've got a great start on your planning.
Best Time to Go
October - November can be an excellent time to visit. The weather is usually pretty good during those months in many parts of Africa. The rainy season is typically winding down, so you won't have to deal with too much rain interfering with your activities. And as you mentioned, it's a great time to see lots of young animals out and about, which is such a wonderful sight. Another good option could be around June - August. It's the dry season in many areas, which means the bush cover is thinner, making it easier to spot wildlife. However, it can get a bit chilly at night in some places during these months.
Tour Operators
Londolozi does have a great reputation for their tours, and it sounds like they offer exactly what you're looking for. Another tour operator you might want to consider is &Beyond. They have a wide range of tours that focus on game reserves and also include visits to amazing places like Vic Falls. Their guides are usually really knowledgeable and experienced, and they take great care to make sure guests have an unforgettable experience.
Another one is African Bush Camps. They offer more intimate safari experiences in some of the top game reserves. Their camps are often in prime locations for wildlife viewing, and they're known for their personalized service.
Itinerary Suggestions
Starting in Cape Town for 2 - 3 days is a wonderful idea. There's so much to see and do there, like visiting Table Mountain, exploring the vibrant city center, and going to some of the great museums.
When it comes to the game reserves, besides Londolozi, Sabi Sands Game Reserve is also really popular. It has a high density of wildlife, and the chances of seeing the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo) are quite good.
And for Vic Falls, it's truly a breathtaking sight. Make sure to plan some time to take in the views from different angles, and maybe even consider doing an activity like a helicopter ride over the falls if you're up for it.
