Well, it is. It is one of their most important holidays. November 11th is St. Martin's Day or Sint Maarten's Day and is the day that Christopher Columbus sighted the island on his second voyage in 1493. The island is named after St. Martin of Tours whose Feast Day is also November 11th. Sint Maarten Day, by law, is celebrated only on November 11th, and unlike other public holidays, there is no provision for an alternate date if the holiday falls on a weekend.
I would call it a huge holiday on the Island.
