Know exactly what you mean by the new, sterile, white villas. Much prefer the type you just experienced. Our honeymoon week was at Wesley House in Anguilla and was perfect! Same types of views, same COMPLETE privacy on deck and pool (well, Chuck Norris house was within binocular distance..lol) House also came with a car and cell phone.

We will look into Canoua for a French side stay. Something near Orient square might be lovely as well.
