Air France still flies from Miami to Martinique. We have taken that flight and it has 1 stop in Haiti. Otherwise the flights are ok.

Martinique is a fantastic island to visit and VERY French.

Martinique is an incredible island. The people, pastries, breads and food in general are to die for.

We had main sail issues and had to put in there for 2 weeks, what hardship. The kind folks close to the marina’s for the most part spoke both English and French but continuing inland mostly just French. Even with the language barrier they where warm and inviting and we had no problem getting what’s needed.

I ran into a U.S. couples at a local Leader Price supermarket that were bichin that no one spoke English. Jerks, you chose to visit their island. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> At that point I could understand some of the stereotype and distain abroad for the US. I on the other hand was feeling crummy for not being more fluid in French.

Now that there is more options for air transport – Go, but as said be patient as it is very French.
