We had a great flight in on Saturday - AA via Miami - on the ground and at The Towers by 2:15. I know I sometimes complain about the AA schedule changes and all, but I have to say, when they're on their game they are totally ON!! The entire trip was one of our best and this from someone who usually does non-stops - I was impressed. C & I was fast even though we arrived with Air France. Now if only they could perfect the on the ground baggage handling, but as I understand it, that's the airport and has nothing to do with the airline. Oh well, there's always glitches....
Todd - we looked for you at the airport because we saw what I think was your plane right behind us as we landed. We'll catch up by the 18th if not sooner. And Jeannie was so thrilled this morning telling us about what you did. You guys are the best.
Jeannie had been in and stocked our unit - she really is awesome and always goes the extra mile for her clients.
Met friends at Royal Islander at 5ish - gosh those penthouse units are beautiful and have incredibly nice views. We enjoyed the view of the pools below and the airplanes as they came in.
We moved on to dinner with more friends at La Rosa's Restaurant - had a great evening and it was wonderful to see you all. Great food, good drinks, wonderful company - it really doesn't get much better than that. Sandy, thanks for the invitation - we thoroughly enjoyed seeing you all and the Cannegieters joining us was like the icing on the cake. Hope you hit big after we left you guys.....
Awoke early this morning (Sunday) and after a quick stop at the bakery for some snack food to go, we headed to the police pier for our GB Express crossing to Anguilla. A funny start weather-wise on SXM to what's proven to be a funny day here, too. Bumpy but dry ride - captain offered wrist bands if needed - they do an incredibly nice job with their transport service. The ride was about the bounciest one I've ever taken over and the first time we experienced this going to AXA though I've heard people mention it in the past.
And here we are - all checked in on Anguilla - spent some time at Gwenn's for lunch and enjoying The Scratch Band. Ribs were awesome - only surpassed by the wind which hasn't let up for a minute all day. Glad we opted for a place with a pool....the sand was pelting on Shoal Bay and the beach is definitely NOT back around Gwenn's.
As we're sitting here on our balcony enjoying a sundowner I'm watching the palm trees sway and the fronds are whistling their windsong and just over the treetops, we can view the waves breaking on the reef just off Shoal Bay East. What a great place to wind down the weekend and start up the vacation. Dinner at Zaras soon to follow.
