Puerto Rico had a 6.6 earthquake this morning with a Tsunami alert which was later cancelled. Rogue waves can still travel across open waters and effect NW beaches. Be careful swimming even though PR is a far distance away from SXM.

The most damage was in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Those on cruise ships and flying to SXM through PR should not be effected. I would check with your carrier or cruise line if anything changes. The island wide black out is temporary but I'd rather be in SXM during a black out. Let us hope the quakes will quiet down now and not spread futher on the Caribbean plate.

There is no way you would feel an earthquake in PR but the ocean or sea can be churned up. Sometimes sea life are effected and can wash up on beaches. The aftershocks are unreal all at 4.0 or below. I hope this is over.
