Ferry cost & departure fees?

Ferry cost & departure fees? - 01/07/2022 09:08 PM

We have a crew of six coming down Feb 10th. Two leave Feb 16th and two others leave Feb 18th. Both parties include my adult kids.
What are the ferry fees from Roadtown to STT? We took a water taxi last trip. Also, can anyone clarify the departure fees?
Thank you!

From memory.....costs may be a little off, but close. All costs are per person, one way:
Ferry $60
Luggage $5/bag (including carry on roller bags)
BVI departure tax - $20
Gratuity for bag guys $as you please
Caribs in route - $5/ea
Taxi from CA ferry terminal to STT - $10 (incl tip)

All said and done, I usually figure ~$100 pp each way.

Bags are now $10 each and as you said, they make you check most bags as there isn't room to be dragging a roller bag into the seating area.

I don't think the $10 taxi to STT would include any bag fees or a tip. I think the taxi itself is a $10 fee.

Wow, bags are now 10 each? It was only a few years ago that you could get a roundtrip ferry ticket for 70 dollars and bags were free. A roundtrip now with two bags will be 160.00 dollars.

yep. everyone has been very surprised. It's making the water taxis much more attractive.

Oh wow, now $10/bag?! Yikes. It really does make one lean to the water taxi option....if you have a group. I agree on the land taxi from ferry to STT. I was low on that.

We took a water taxi in December and if I could, I'd do it every time! It was seamless and easy. For this trip, our group is taking a water taxi to Tortola but since we all depart on different days, we're going to have to go the ferry route. Unless I can find someone to share a water taxi with!

We’ve booked Dolphin Water Taxi from Scrub for the returns to St Thomas. They make a few runs a day from Scrub - shared water taxi. $234/pp includes all the fees + taxes. More than the ferry but way less hassle and much easier for us to drop off at Scrub.
