2 hours ago Fat Tony’s [by The_Lurker]
We decided to go to Fat Tony’s, after Marti Gras was
canceled.
It started out so quiet, until the bus with the Canadians (NS)
pulled up. Fun night! The steel band was great! Love the songs.

At Mullet, we watched a cruise ship come in at around noon.
First time for everything.

Beautiful day! Except for this fog of dust 😕

Yesterday at 09:58 PM Carnival [by CathyandDanny]
We are currently on the island, staying on the Dutch side. It has been alot of years since we were here in late April. We would love to see the Carnival parade again. Where and when do we see it? Other tips and info about what we shouldn't miss is appreciated!!

Yesterday at 01:27 PM Orient Beach Walk Video [by TJTrippe]
https://youtu.be/P7rcaBqckVs?si=0jcRKhrcVk5ayEdI

I think someone could make some YouTube/patreon money doing walks on Orient Beach each days as well as other places on island.

This video starts with a drive through a roundabout and turning into Orient Village and then a walk up and back the beach,

Yesterday at 01:06 PM MIA customs procedure, need help :) [by Lancer]
We’re leaving today flying SXM-MIA-PHL. We’ve not had a connecting flight in MIA ever. Usually direct from PHL to SXM.

Our plane arrives from SXM and arrives in MIA at concourse E. Our connecting flight leaves MIA at the end of concourse D boarding 1-1/2 hours later.

We need help knowing what the process is once we arrive in MIA. I think we have to go to baggage and pick up our luggage, then go through customs. Then check in bags for next flight, then trek it down concourse D to our gate MIA-PHL.

Questions:
Once we pick up our luggage where do we find customs?
Once we go through customs where do we find baggage check in for a flight leaving on concourse D?

Having never done this in MIA it seems so overwhelming. I’d like to have a bit of an idea what to do before we get there.

Thanks in advance.

Yesterday at 12:38 PM Dining Prices on island? Up a little or a lot? [by TJTrippe]
How are prices for food on island since end of pandemic?

Bakeries such as baguettes, croissants?
Beach Lunches Burger and Fries, beach ribs?
Restaurants like Pienapple Petes?
Restaurants like Grand Case?

I ask because lodging doesn’t seem much higher since last visit but wondering about the food component of the trip.

Thanks

Yesterday at 12:24 PM Sahara Dust [by The_Lurker]
So much Saharan Dust. I heard it will be around this week.
It really is awful.

Been shopping and forgetting pictures.
We had breakfast at Zee Best yesterday morning
The lady in charge spilled a little coffee on me and ended up
giving me a t-shirt. I told her it was the nicest thing that has
happened, since we have had a few issues this trip. Then she gave me a
couple of pastries when we were leaving. 🤗

We visited Juggies and ended up splitting a Krave smash burger—very good.
It’s always fun to see Juggie.

We ended up at SkipJacks last night and were surprised at the delicious
Sea scallops they have.
It’s normally not a favorite, but it was really a good meal.

Yesterday at 10:44 AM Day 12 & Going Home Day 4/21 & 4/22 [by JeanneB]
It was nice to wake up Sunday in the Air bnb in an air conditioned unit. The girls went to Rendezvous Lounge for jazz brunch, Dany’s for Happy Hour, then had a great last dinner at Altro in Porto Cupecoy. They have chalkboard menus only - one with 3 course $38 (I think) prixe fix options and another with a la carte options. I had a delicious smoked salmon croquette, beef stew in a wine sauce and tiramisu. I dont remember what the girls had.

Yesterday, Monday, was “Going Home” day. We got up fairly early and checked out of the Air bnb. Dropped some stuff off to Wendy to either use up or keep for our next visit. We wanted to have a good breakfast. Decided on Sunset Beach Bar. Parked right near the guard shack at the entry to Morgan Resort, so didn’t have any worries about luggage in the trunk (the car I had is owned by a local resident and clearly didn’t look like a rental car). SSBB has kind of lost its appeal to me over the years, but I must say we had a really good breakfast with attentive, fast service. 15% sc added to the bill, and validated parking.

It looked extremely hazy over the lagoon and mountains. Turns out Sahara Dust had made its way to the island. We had reactions kind of like we have due to pollen at home.

We returned our car, said our final goodbyes to our very dear friends. Wendy took us to the airport. We arrived at about 12:15 for our 2:21 AA flight to Charlotte. With carryons only, I texted Wendy at 12:41 to tell her that we were at the gate.

Even though the flight was listed as “FULL” , Chrissy and I still managed to have an extra legroom row all to ourselves, which was quite nice! Although originally scheduled to leave from a C gate, our flight left from A3. We landed on time and were home to see my very needy yellow Labrador by 7:30 pm.

I know my little reports weren’t as engaging as others, but I have been reading trip reports on this site for years and thought I would try to give back in my own little way 🤷🏻‍♀️

I will try to get some pics up in a different thread.

04/22/2024 10:20 PM Anegada FCFS ball failed on me [by Matt W]
A FCFS ball failed on me right after we tied onto it yesterday. Didn't back down on it. Aboard a Lagoon 51. Wind was blowing 18 knots. Rope looked very old and frayed. Didnt look like it had prop damage but I could be wrong. We went and recovered it in the dinghy to claim it as a prize after getting settled. Gave it back to the gentlemen that came to collect the fee. Ill post a picture once I get to some wifi.
